The 2018 Rugby Illinois High School Girls League will consist of twelve (12) teams competing in two (2) conferences:
The top four (4) teams in each conference will advance to the Rugby Illinois High School Girls Cup Championship on Mon May 28, 2018.
The remaining two (2) teams in each conference will compete for the Rugby Illinois High School Girls Plate Championship.
Each of our rugby teams has their own nickname. Our High School Boys are the Barbarians. Our Middle School (U14) players are the Pioneers. Our High School Girls chose to be the Juggernauts when the team formed in 2011. We used this nickname through the spring of 2014. We did not field a High School Girls team in 2015.
For the spring 2016 season, we partnered with the Chicago Wapiti to form a new High School Girls Rugby Team. The players felt a new nickname was needed to better reflect that we draw players from many schools and cities: Arlington Heights, Barrington, Bartlett, Buffalo Grove, Chicago, Grayslake, Hainesville, Lake Forest, Mundelein, Palatine, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Roselle, Schaumburg, Vernon Hills and Wheeling.
Our players proudly renamed the team The Mutts!

When you can keep your focus when all about you
Are losing their minds and yelling at you,
When you can trust yourself when others doubt you,
But use their doubting to take your game to a higher level;
When you can spend time on the bench and not allow yourself to lose your edge while waiting your turn,
Or being gossiped about, don’t deal in team gossip,
Or being envied, don’t give way to jealousy,
And yet don’t over-promote your play, nor puff yourself up too much;
When you can dream – and not make dreams-without-work your master,
When you can think under pressure – and not forget to take action when the pressure is high,
When you can deal with Winning and Losing
And treat those two impostors just the same;
When you can bear to see the effort you put forth
Mocked by the jealous to make a trap for the weak-minded,
Or watch the season you gave your life to, lost,
And get back up and build yourself up with more drills & practice;
When you can take all of your goals
And risk them on one more shot, one more push, one more try,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe an excuse about your loss,
Or win, and start again at your beginnings
And not lust to take credit for the success;
When you can force your heart and nerve and mind
To keep you moving forward even when you feel you’re fully exhausted,
And so continue trying to get better when there is nothing in you
Except the Will in you which says to you: ‘I can do it!’
When you can talk with fans and stay humble,
Or play on a great team – and not stop being a giving teammate,
When neither foes nor fans nor disrespectful media can limit your desire,
When your teammates believe in you, but none too much,
When you can fill your unforgiving opportunities
With non-stop effort & belief,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – in the end – you’ll be a Winner, my Sister!

Rugby Illinois has not yet provided high schooll girls with an Olympic Rugby 7s season.
We run our own Rugby 7s Tournament and have included a High School Girls Division each year. The 6th annual Midsummer 7s is June 9, 2018.
The tournament director's of the other existing Illinois Rugby 7s tournaments are all eager to include a high school girls bracket.
Please note: the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons are completely different. Players are not obligated to play in any given season. They may choose to play in one, two or all three seasons.
